Ajay Chandramouli is a Machine Learning Scientist on the Startups team. He brings more than a decade of experience applying ML to decision-making problems across safety, energy, and carbon, including a Machine Learning Residency at Amii and independent consulting for energy and government clients.

Ajay enjoys multidisciplinary problems that sit at the intersection of engineering and data science. His interests and expertise span physics-informed (gray-box) machine learning, sequential decision-making and control, Bayesian methods and uncertainty quantification, and LLM and agentic AI systems.

Ajay holds a PhD in Process Control from the University of Alberta and an M.Tech in Mathematical Systems Theory from IIT Bombay. His research spans closed-loop optimization and Model Predictive Control, subsurface energy systems risk assessment, and predictive safety modelling, complemented by peer-reviewed publications and six terms of graduate teaching.
