Amii has received $1 million in Claude credits from Anthropic, as part of the AI company’s $10 million CAD investment in Canadian research institutions. The credits will be used by research and engineering teams at Amii to help bridge the gap between academic research and practical AI adoption in industry.

This support comes at a time when Amii continues to build on its momentum to drive Canada’s AI global leadership through real-world impact.

Amii’s partnership with Anthropic strengthens our capacity to drive AI research and commercial adoption. Together, we will fast-track critical scientific breakthroughs in health, reinforcement learning, the preservation of underrepresented languages and AI Trust & Safety. We will also ensure the companies we work with have the support they need to scale and deploy robust, world-class AI solutions. Thanks to Anthropic, we will continue to accelerate both world-leading research and AI adoption in Canada.

By giving Canadian researchers, engineers, and businesses access to Claude credits, this partnership will speed up the development and deployment of practical AI solutions across key industry sectors. Additionally, the collaboration will advance Amii’s core research priorities, such as reinforcement learning and AI Trust & Safety, while ensuring new researchers and engineers have access to standard industry tools.

Focus Areas for AI Research

This partnership helps Amii expand its work in several key areas:

Confiance et sécurité dans l'IA

Building reliable, transparent frameworks to ensure AI systems are safe and aligned with human values.

Apprentissage par renforcement

Advancing Amii's existing work in how AI systems learn to solve problems in complex environments.

Health Sciences

Finding practical applications to improve patient care and healthcare delivery.

Cultural Preservation

Expanding on research to help preserve underrepresented languages.

Practical Innovation and Talent

Beyond long-term research, Amii’s engineering team will use the Claude platform to drive continuous engineering optimization, agentic workflows, and accelerate forward-deployment engineering initiatives.

“This partnership with Anthropic is a catalyst for technical innovation at Amii and across Canada,” says Greg Burlet, Director of Engineering at Amii. “From an engineering perspective, access to the Claude Platform significantly increases our speed and agility, enabling our teams to rapidly generate sophisticated proofs of concept that integrate complex AI, machine learning, and reinforcement learning into industry applications. Just as importantly, it also empowers us to train the next generation of researchers and engineers entering the workforce on best-in-class, industry tools.”

Support for Startups and Businesses

Alongside the credits, startups working with Amii will have access to the Claude for Startups program, which provides founders with dedicated resources and technical communities to deploy their ideas and grow their businesses.

“Access to AI technology is one of the biggest hurdles for growing companies,” says Mitchell McCaig, Product Owner, Amii Startups. “Through this collaboration, we are able to double down on our work with the national startup ecosystem. We will ensure that the startups and scale-ups we collaborate with have the sophisticated industry tools they need to design, scale, and deploy robust, world-class AI solutions.”

Looking Ahead

The support of the Claude credits will provide Amii researchers, engineers, and startup teams with a practical resource to build, test, and implement new ideas. By integrating these tools into regular workflows, Amii will continue to drive momentum on its primary goals: advancing world-class research, helping companies adopt AI, and supporting Canadian startups as they scale, ensuring Amii fulfills its commitment to growing Canada's role in the global AI landscape.
